Paul de Thouars
Paul de Thouars (1930- † September 10, 2013) was one of the most accomplished martial artists of our time. Born in Parre, East Java, Dutch East Indies (Indonesia), and immigrating to the United States, he became a well known and highly respected martial arts practitioner for nearly 60 years.
He has been described, by other teachers, as one of the most innovative and devastating martial artists of our time. Directly or indirectly, he had a great influence on practitioners of various martial arts worldwide.
At a time when many claim to have completed several martial arts in a single life, Paul de Thouars claimed to have studied only one art, and admitted that he had not finished studying it yet.
Considered as the teacher of teachers, Uncle Paul, combined a rare ability to transmit, explain, illustrate, and show his discipline, with a vast and deep knowledge of Pencak Silat.
